MAHUBE

Mahube (meaning New Dawn in Setswana) was a Southern African collaboration conceptualised at a time (1997) when there was not much interaction between different musicians from the region. Mahube toured Southern Africa and parts of Europe. 

It featured a 12 piece band including Oliver Mtukudzi, George Phiri, Phinda (Mtya) Matlala, Suthukazi Arosi as featured artists, and instrumentalists Feya Faku, Andile Yenana and Herbie Tsoaeli.

Mahube released 2 albums: Music from Southern Africa (1998), and Qhubeka (2003)

REBIRTH

  Rebirth is the first African concerto for soprano saxophone. Instrumentation includes a saxophone section and marimba/percussion. The 5 movement work premiered in May 2010 with a 118 strong Miagi youth orchestra in Johannesburg.
